This is the first time that you are going abroad on a business trip. You now how vital it is to keep in touch with your clients and instead of relying on the landlines, you have been wise enough to go in for a mobile phone.

Will you have the freedom to call your contacts from any place, your number is also static and your contacts will be able to get in touch with you as and when they want. You have been wise enough to hunt for the plan with the lowest overseas call tariff.

These tariffs have always helped you whenever you were traveling domestically and there is no reason why they will not assist you to keep your phone bills low when you are traveling abroad. The shock of your life comes when you return back home and check out the phone bill. They are way above what you had been expecting and have made a sizeable dent in your wallet. Welcome to the world of international travelers woes.

There are special phone cards, which can save you a good amount of money but not as much as an international SIM card. Ask any one who travels overseas on a frequent basis and they will tell you about the advantage of these international SIM cards. Apart from that normal phone cards present too many problems while you are traveling abroad. The network of the destination country might not accept the SIM card that you have with you on your phone.

It is keeping these things in mind that you should opt in for a international SIM card while traveling abroad. When you are traveling abroad, you are not connected directly to your local network and are on what is known as a roaming network.

The local network picks up your incoming calls from the overseas network and passes on the same to your phone, provided that the same has got a compatible SIM card. The mobile agency of the destination country charges a termination charge, which is added to your phone bill. These termination charges along with the international call rates tend to inflate your mobile bill.

All this can be avoided by using an international SIM card. If the destination country network does not support your local network, you are forced to invest in another SIM card. This can become a bother if you are planning to visit several countries, since it means purchasing a different SIM card for each country.

Not only do you have to pay for the SIM cards, you have to keep on notifying your contacts of your new number each and every time you change your SIM card which itself is a costly proposition. An international SIM card relieves you of al these hassles and reduces your mobile bills and your tension too.
